Why Practice Matters
Knowing what to do is different from being ready to do it.
Leadership skills are built by using them. You can understand the concept of giving feedback, delegating effectively, or influencing without authority, but applying that skill in a real conversation takes practice.
Research backs this up: A meta-analysis of 335 leadership-training studies found that programs combining information, demonstration and practice produced the strongest learning outcomes; those methods, along with feedback and needs-based content, were also associated with stronger transfer to the workplace.*
